第１章 ビートルズがやってくる

時は1964年
ビートルズがアルバム「ハード・デイズ・ナイト」A Hard Day's Nightを発表した年 。
ビートルズの虜（とりこ）になって毎日ビートルズを聴いて過ごしている一人の若者がここにいた。
多分アメリカ中にいただろう。イギリスにはもちろんもっといたし、ヨーロッパ中に大勢いた、いやきっと世界中にいたはずだ。
この物語はそんなビートルズと同世代の若者が夢をつかむロックの寓話だ。
"A Rock & Roll Fable".
この物語の主人公である若者の名前はソロモン。
父親と同じ名前になっているので彼は周りからは「ソロモンJr.」とかそのまま名前じゃなしに「ジュニア」と呼ばれることが多い。
生まれた街のハイスクールを卒業し、 そのまま父親が経営するドラッグストアで働き始めたばかりのテイーンエイジャーだ。
そしていずれ彼がこの店をソロモンJr.として継ぎ、2代目として生涯この店を経営することになるのだろう、仕事は朝から晩まで年中無休でキツかったが、それでも毎日が楽しかったし、未来は輝いているよう感じられた。
しかし、生まれてから、彼女が一度もできたことがないのがたまに傷であり、彼にとっての唯一の汚点とも言っていい男の履歴だった。
映画の虜になって過ごしていた10代だったが、彼の人生に大きな転機が訪れた。それがビートルズの登場だ。
同年 ビートルズがアメリカ・ツアーを行なって以来、アメリカの西海岸にもビートルズ旋風が吹き荒れていた。
さあここからはソロモン本人に登場してもらい物語をの語り部（かたりべ）になってもらおう。

The Beatles
The year they released the album A Hard Day's Night.
There was a young man living on the West Coast who was obsessed with the Beatles and spent his days listening to them.
No, it was definitely all over America.
There were more in England,
of course, and there were many all over Europe,
and I'm sure there were more all over the world.
This story is a rock fable called "Fables of Rock" in which young people of the same generation as the Beatles pursue their dreams.
Since his name is the same as his father's, people around him often call him ``Solomon Jr.'' or ``Junior'' instead of his real name.
Solomon is a teenager who was born in this town, graduated from the town's high school, and just started working at his father's drugstore.
Someday, Solomon Jr. will take over this store and run it for the rest of his life as the second generation.
However, in the past three years since he was born, he has never had a single blemish, and this can be said to be the only blemish
on his history.
During his teenage years, Solomon was captivated by movies, but a major turning point came in his life.
That's when the Beatles appeared.
Since the Beatles toured the United States in the same year, the Beatles whirlwind was sweeping through the West Coast of the United States.
Now, let's start the story by asking Solomon himself to appear.
